Safety and security of the business corridor is a top priority for the Oak Park Business Association. This is a complex issue involving law enforcement, neighborhood associations, social and civic groups, elected officials, and more. Employees, employers, community members and patrons must feel safe in order to entice new development and business expansion. Staff works diligently to provide assistance to law enforcement and community projects/programs. Below are some ways the Oak Park Business Association supports a safe and secure business corridor.
Paladin Security Patrol -
Your patrol officers are available between 9am and 9pm daily to answer calls regarding suspicious persons, trespassers or other conditions which may impede your business or customers. Paladin officers are committed to working in our district and encourage you to call upon their services. Paladin dispatch can be reached at any time at 916-331-3175. When you call, please be ready to provide your name, call-back number, address, business name, a description of the event you are calling about, and a description of any person(s) you are calling about. This information is important to assist officers in quickly responding to and addressing your concerns.
Block by Block Neighborhood Safety Program – is a program of Weed & Seed and is an effort designed to specifically identify blocks in
Cops & Coffee – OPBA staff continues to regularly attend the Cops & Coffee Meeting. Community organizers and law enforcement address specific security issues in Oak Park. Attendees are able to speak about concerns in there area with law enforcement. The OPBA uses this information to learn about the specifics security and safety needs of the area residents and businesses. The purpose of the above events is to: Community Against Sexual Harm(C.A.S.H.) - The Oak Park Business Association continues to support the C.A.S.H Project financially and with in-kind contributions. The C.A.S.H project was initiated in 2002 and came to fruition in 2007. The mission of the C.A.S.H. Program is to improve the lives of individuals victimized by, or at risk for sexual exploitation, violence, and prostitution by increasing their access to health and mental health education and services. C.A.S.H. accomplishes its mission by providing street-level outreach, trauma recovery services and assistance with referrals for substance abuse treatment, food banks, housing assistance, vocational training, and other basic services.
National Night Out - Each year the OPBA promotes and sponsors a community event for NNO. National Night Out is a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by National Association Town Watch (NATW). The NNO campaign involves citizens, law enforcement agency's, civic groups, businesses, neighborhood organizations, and local officers. Over 15,000 communities from all 50 states participate. Our business corridor benefits from the C.A.S.H. program by having the prostitution activity eradicated from the area leaving the corridor feeling safe, clean and comfortable to employees, existing and potential customers.
