The Oak Park Business Association

Bringing new businesses to the Oak Park area is vital to the redevelopment of the economy. The corridor must be inviting to attract those businesses; therefore beautification and maintenance of the businessĀ corridor is essential. The Oak Park Business Association accomplishes this with the help of our cleanup and maintenance crew headed by Hilary Gould (former County Neighborhood Services Representative and Volunteer). The hard working crew is assigned to pick up litter along Broadway and down side streets from Alhambra to Martin Luther King Blvd. daily between 7:00am and 3:00pm.

The business association also assists with programs and projects that benefit the area. the following are past and recurring projects and programs:

Oak Park Street Banners - The Oak Park Business Association installed 46 street light banners in the Oak Park Business Corridor. Along Broadway between Alhambra and Stockton Blvd there are 22 double banners that display actual photographs of architecture in Oak Park. Drive through Oak Park to take a glimpse at our beautiful new banners.

Oak Park Historic District Street Sign Toppers - The OPBA has taken one strategy used in other historic districts to install historic street sign toppers throughout the district. The street sign toppers signify a specific geographic boundary while creating a distinct sense of place.

The street toppers project is one of the many ways the OPBA meets the Image Enhancement goal of our management plan. Please click on the link below to view the Oak Park Historic Dist. Street Sign Toppers installed in July of 2010.

2nd Saturday Cleanup
- The cleanup was originally a collaboration between St. Hope, OPNA, Christian Brothers school, McGeorge School of Law, Sacramento High School, Youth Works and a variety of community groups. These groups would meet every second Saturday of each month to complete a massive litter pickup in pre-determined areas of Oak Park neighborhoods and in the business corridor. In 2009 the 2nd Saturday cleanup evolved into more than just a cleanup. Each month a group of volunteers from the community meet to complete various tasks that improve the Oak Park area.

Oak Park Business Association's "Painters Paradise" - Board Members and Staff had there first Annual Painters Paradise Event. This event was and is designed to economically stimulate our business corridor while providing community members with an opportunity to enjoy artist at work as well as their subject matter. In addition we had community participation with local entertainment and local dignitaries. We hope that the event will continue to grow year to year. We learned many things from our first Annual and will take the knowledge into the future when planning Painters Paradise 2011. Overall, the event was successful and enjoyable for all who attended. We want to thank all who participated in the event.
